Mike Burns

Michael Burns (Mike) joined Aguiar Injury Lawyers in January 2015. He began his career in information technology before deciding to switch career paths. After completing law school in 2004, he spent the next 11 years practicing insurance defense.

Mike now focuses his practice representing personal injury victims with a wide variety of case types, including wrongful deathcommercial trucking collisionsslip and fall injuries, premises liability, insurance bad faith, and motor vehicle collisions. Having defended the very same types of cases for 11 years, he has knowledge that helps him better serve his clients.

Mike currently serves on the board of Supporting Heroes, Inc., an organization that provides support to the families of fallen public service professionals (police, fire and EMS). He also serves on the board of Fr. John Judie Ministries, Inc., which provides educational support for vocations in East Africa. He previously served on the boards of Lyndon Fire Protection District and Broomall Fire Company.

Mike is a former sworn deputy sheriff, having served with the Oldham County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Office. He retired as a Corporal from the Jefferson County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Office. Mike is also a former Sergeant with the Lyndon Fire Protection District in Louisville, Kentucky, and former Captain of Broomall Fire Company in Marple Township, Pennsylvania.

Mike grew up outside Philadelphia and received his B.S. from Widener University in 1985. He relocated to Louisville in 1991 where he raised his family. In 2004, he earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.

Mike is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in Kentucky.
