How Much Is My Case Worth?
November 4th, 2013 | Helpful Tips
One of the first questions asked of a personal injury attorney by an injured party is, “How much is my case worth?” Unfortunately, there is no exact answer to this question. While it would be great if there were a formula to calculate your case’s exact value, no such formula exists. Because there is no simple, perfect formula for calculating the value of a case, many factors are weighed, and the value of your case is derived from those factors.
As previously mentioned, the value of your case is largely dependent upon various factors. Some such factors include: the severity of your injuries, the total cost of your medical treatment, the risk of future injury, the associated cost for any future medical treatment or procedures that you may require, the damage to the vehicles involved, the available insurance coverage, and the wages you do not earn because you are forced to miss work. This list provides a general basis, but it certainly is not an exhaustive list of factors. Many subjective factors also come into play, and as a result, no two cases are exactly the same.
